Monoposto Tiedeman Trophy Snetterton 200

This weekend was the first time since the Snetterton re-development that a Mono race had been held on the 1.99 mile ‘200’ circuit which apart from the hairpin followed by a left turn is the closest circuit to the previous Snetterton configuration.   Because of this, a whole brace of lap records was up for grabs as well.

Geoff Fern took a massive stride to claiming the Tiedeman Trophy when championship rival and race leader Malcolm Scott was involved with a tangle with Tony Bishop.      Whilst repairs were made to both cars, it meant Geoff just had to finish to claim the title.    He did just that with a drive fast enough to maintain concentration, but not slow enough to chuck the race away or get involved in someone else’s accident.

The picture shows Pedro Ferreria clattering the sausage kerbs at Murrays.    Touring Cars and Saloon Cars can take liberties with these kerbs, but its unwise for a single seater driver to push their luck quite so much with them.   Pedro got away with it this time…   It was generally a good weekend for Welsh University Teams as Kevin Couling had a season best result – Class Pole, Class Win and a temporary lap record before Pedro took it off him in race 2.
